The Dividing Line

Why do you think continents are divided up into countries? How do you think this process first began? Think about the definition of country that we talked about in class. Maybe that will stir up some ideas.

How does this help our world? If we told someone that we were going to Europe and they could meet us there, would they be able to find us?

i think contenents are divided into countries so every thing is more orgaized. i think this proses began by looking at all the contenents and putting them together by size. amarica oonly has 3 contenents, but they are larger than some. as i said at first it this helps us be more organized. if we are sailing on a boat it might be confusing if you look at a map ann some countries are bigger than others because all the contenents are big and theres a lot of them. if someone was tring to find us in europ and there was a lot of large contenents in it they probibly would not be able to.

1. First of all, I think continents are divided up into countries because it would be hard to take care of ALL the people. They have smaller goverments so they can enforce the rules easiler.

i think that the continents are divided up into countries becuase we dont just want are map to look like a big pile of papers we want are map tyo look like a nice neat piece of paper.They have smaller goverments so they can enforce the rules easiler.I agree with kate

people would not find us in one contry and them in another. it would take them a long time to get there becuse they migat take them to the wrong cntinents.

I think they are divided because then you know what place is what and so you can have your own goverment without having to share it with someone else.

2. Second, I thnk this process began by people coming to a certain place and claiming amounts of land. Some leaders of different countries have been more powerful than others, taking over more land. That is why some countries are bigger than others.

I think what got countries started was that people kept getting lost and decided to divide up the continents into smaller pieces. I think this because without states, it would probably be very confusing.

I think that continents are divided into countries because it helps organize that continent. I think this process first began when everybody was having trouble organizing things. This helps our world because it gives us something more to learn and it organizes our world!

3. No one could in a trillion years could find us in Europe because it is so huge! You would have to be more specific. You would have to tell them the country, city, and maybe even the hotel, restaurant, or street.

maybe because some people had different laws or ways of living. so they divided their goverments and lived their own ways. i think it started when lots of people argued about laws. so some guy (that should know 8x7) said to divide the countinent into sections that were countries.

this helps our world by letting people live the way they want to live.

they would almost definetly not because ther are so many countries in Europe

How I think this happened is because maybe way back then when all the continents were just one soemone decided they whated different rulers instead on just one. That is probaly why the continents are divided into counrties.
How having continents divided into countries helps our world is by, like I said earlier if you sceuled to meet your friend in Asia, well you have to think without the countries and states to find people in we would be lost. So that's one of the reason's why continents divided into countries can help our world.

I think that the contenents are divided into countries bc it would be easier to have different governments bc we would have a lot of papers to sort and file if we just have one piece of land. It`s ironic that i almost typed the same thing as Alexis.I agree with Alexis bc the government would have trouble enforcing laws around a whole entier contenent.I think the definnition of country is , a landmass that holds several states and cities.This helps our world bc we would have an easier way to look at maps so there will be more places to look at on a map than just 7 contenents.That is my answer to all the Q:`S

I think that continents are dived up into countries because of wars. Such as world war 2, where Germany was fighting for more land. Also because of natural disasters. Such as the3 big earthquake at the end of the ice age.And also government because they bought the land.Before I think the countries and continents were just one huge nation and then earthquakes separated them.No,because we never gave them the state,city,or places.I agree Alexis.

I made a mistake up there this is what i really meant to say ,i think continents are divided up into countries because people want there own culture,and there own language their own music and way of doing things.For example one time i went on vacation to france and a few miles away people were speaking spanish eating different food and had a different goverment because it was spain.france and spain are friends but some countries fight with their neighbors over land all the time.
